Help us bring The Grid Project to life! Join our team of artists, creatives, and community members as we create an exciting experience for our young artists. Whether you’re lending a hand or sharing your creative expertise, there’s a place for you.
SIGN-UP IS EASY
Choose the dates and times that fit your schedule (yes, you may sign-up for every workshop). All help is welcome.
Lunch is provided to volunteers who work a full workshop shift (4 hours).
Volunteers will be credited in the end-of-program review and recognized at the ceremony.
Volunteers age 18 and older will complete a separate background check conducted by BLACCENT (our 501(c)3 fiscal sponsor).
Results will be kept confidential. Fees are covered by the program.
TEACHING ARTISTS
Encourage young artists, offer technical support and creative expertise, answer art questions, and provide guidance. Some professional background is helpful. A short resume or list of experience is highly recommended. Perfect for someone with a professional arts or creative background.
GENERAL VOLUNTEERS
Help with workshop setup and breakdown, snacks, supplies, cleanup, and wherever project leads need a hand. Perfect for someone without a lot of art experience but wants to help out!

Do I need art experience to volunteer?
No. General volunteers do not need art experience. Teaching Artists should have some art, creative, or instructional experience.What happens after I sign up?
Our Program Team will review your submission and contact you with your assignment, location, arrival time, and additional details. -
Do I have to volunteer for every workshop?
No. You can select the workshop dates and times that work best for your schedule.Where will the workshops take place?
Workshops will be held at Cameron Park Zoo Education Center and Waco STEAM Center. Your assigned location will be confirmed beforehand.What if my availability changes?

What will I help with?
Volunteer roles may include workshop setup and breakdown, organizing materials, assisting with snacks, cleanup, student support, or creative guidance.Will I work directly with young artists?
Some roles involve directly supporting artists ages 6–17. Project Leads will provide instructions and expectations for your assigned role.What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Since you'll be around art materials and paint, dress accordingly.Will food be provided?
Yes. Lunch or refreshments will be provided depending on your workshop schedule. If you have special food allergens or accommodations, please notify us via email. -
Can I receive verified volunteer hours?
Yes. Volunteer hours completed through The Grid Project can be documented and signed off by BLACCENT, our 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor.How do I get my hours verified?
Send us an email and let our Program Team know that you need service-hour documentation. We’ll make sure your completed hours are properly recorded for verification.
